In February 1994 Active Commercial Systems Ltd was established. The current owner and staff came from the commercial division of Advantage Data Systems. Active was appointed as an approved dealer of the TEC Barcode Printer.

In 1997 Active Commercial Systems Ltd became Active Labelling Ltd and the company was refocused to become a barcode hardware and labelling supplier.

TEC printers was purchased by Toshiba and the label printers were re-branded as Toshiba TEC.

In 2005 Active formed a supply agreement with Leonhard Kurz to supply their near edge ribbon throughout New Zealand.

In 2007 Active Labelling moved from its original building in Montreal Street, Christchurch. To more modern premises in Ferrymead, Christchurch.

Today our focus remains consistent with our decisions back in 1997 – to supply smart labelling solutions to New Zealand industry and supply high quality competitively priced consumables.
